Sexually Violent Predator Sentenced To 36 Years To Life

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4)- A sexually violent predator was sentenced to 36 years to life in prison on Friday for sexually assaulting a young child.

William George Kutzly of Colorado Springs was sentenced by an El Paso County District Judge.

Kutzly was found guilty of sexual assault on a child and sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust on May 17. The judge in the case also found Kutzly to be a habitual sexual offender against children and a sexually violent predator.

The assaults happened between December 2007 and December 2008. Court testimony revealed the victim was abused while in the care of Kutzly's wife, who operated an unlicensed daycare in their home. She was not charged in the case.

"William Kutzly is a dangerous pedophile. I'm grateful for the jury who found him guilty, and for Judge Crowder, who today made sure Kutzly will never victimize another child," said lead prosecutor Laurel Cain.

Kutzly also faces 20 years to life on parole in addition to his sentence.
