Police Track Down Fifth Denver Deadly Crime Spree Suspect Samuel Fussell In Greeley
DENVER (CBS4) - The fifth suspect in a Denver crime spree last week that left one person dead and another person hurt is in custody. Police arrested Samuel Fussell on Wednesday.
Fussell, 19, was arrested in Greeley after police tracked him down there when someone submitted a tip. He made his first appearance in court on Thursday and the judge ordered him held in jail without bond.
The four other suspects in the Aug. 17 crimes in west Denver were arrested last week:
- Isaiah Freeman, 18
- Seth Larhode, 21
- Aden Sides, 18
- Noah Loepp-Hall, 19
Denver police said all five young men met at a youth correctional facility in Golden.
The crimes started on Colfax Avenue with a carjacking, and there was also an attempted robbery and a shooting in which someone was seriously injured and remains in the hospital. The fatal shooting that night was outside of the Yeshiva Toras Chaim Talmudical Seminary near West Colfax Avenue and North Stuart Street. Shmuel Silverberg, a student there, was shot and killed after the suspects approached him.
A reward of $27,000 was being offered for information that led to an arrest and conviction of Fussell. It's not clear if the tipster who led police to Fussell will be eligible for the reward money.
