1 Dead In Single-Engine Plane Crash Near Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport
BROOMFIELD, Colo. (CBS4)- One person was confirmed dead in the plane crash that happened near Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport in Broomfield. The crash happened near Eldorado Boulevard and Interlocken Loop about 12:34 p.m. Wednesday.
Witnesses told CBS4's Rick Sallinger that it was a small aircraft that went down. North Metro Fire tweeted that the plane is a small, single-engine plane that was en route to Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport.
North Metro Fire also said the plane crash caused a fire that was put out by the Aircraft Rescue Firefighting (ARFF) truck and North Metro firefighters.
The number of passengers on board is unknown.
North Metro Fire tweeted that the intersection of Eldorado Boulevard and Interlocken Loop is closed and will be for hours.
The public is urged to stay away from the area during the investigation. The NTSB will be investigating the crash.
