Rockies Fans Bundle Up For Coldest Home Opener
DENVER (CBS4) - Rockies fans bundled up for the coldest Home Opener and one of the coldest games in Rockies history.
At 1 p.m. the team announced that the team's home opener at Coors Field has been delayed. It had originally been scheduled to start at 2:10 p.m. Friday afternoon. The first pitch was pushed back to 3:10 p.m.
"We came prepared. We dressed in layers," Greg Lauer said as light midday snow fell in LoDo.
Lauer and his wife, Tiffany, are native Coloradans so they know how to dress for the weather.
"You got your gloves, you've got your boots, you've got your ski gear on and your Rockies gear on at the same time," said Tiffany.
The temperatures in the city dropped into the 20s in the morning and light snow started falling as fans gathered around Denver's ballpark for some tailgating.

"We've got several layers on and the fact that it's snowing? You know what it's still opening day and it's still great and we love the Rockies," Larry Stauss said. "We've been huge Rockies fans since '93. Been to the first opening day, we're not going to miss this just because of a little snow."
Street vendor Caroline Dinwiddie told CBS4 she was out selling Rockies memorabilia last year for the home opener and had "a lady slapping suntan lotion on her."
"This year? It's kind of out there," said Dinwiddie, referring to the snow.
For one Rockies fan known only as Matt, it's all about his beverage selection, "It's probably about a two beer game."
