Robbers Use Guns, Bomb Threats To Rob 3 Banks In Wheat Ridge
WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. (CBS4) - Police in Wheat Ridge and the FBI would like the public's help locating several bank robbers who used bomb threats and guns to rob three banks this week.
The latest bank robbery occurred at the Wells Fargo bank at 3490 Youngfield Street in Wheat Ridge around noon on Friday.
"The suspects' faces and skin were covered and they appeared to be disguising their body types and weight with items stuffed inside their clothing," FBI spokesperson Deborah Sherman said in a statement. "Witnesses report them possibly being dark-skinned Hispanic or light-skinned black males."
The suspects fled in a stolen 1998 red Jeep Cherokee with Colorado license plate 647-SUF.
"Please be on the lookout for these suspects and vehicle as they are considered armed and dangerous," Sherman said.
On Tuesday the Chase Bank located at 7405 West 38th Avenue was robbed by a white man.
"In a note, the suspect told the bank teller that he had a bomb. He got away in a Yellow Cab," Sherman said.
No bomb was found.
The suspect is described as being approximately 35 years old, 5-foot-10, 180 pounds, brown hair, hazel eyes and a brown beard and mustache with a medium build wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt and dark workout pants.
On Friday the same white male suspect robbed the Bank of the West at 7575 West 44th Avenue in Wheat Ridge.
"This time wearing a brown hat with an unknown logo, black sunglasses, a brown and white plaid long-sleeved shirt and blue jeans," Sherman said.
He once again fled the area in a taxi cab.
