Roadside Crosses Stolen In Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP)-- Three families in Colorado Springs are upset after roadside memorials to family members were stolen.

Last week, a friend of Fort Carson soldier Jeff Hawthorne noticed two crosses that were set up on the corner of Constitution and Academy where he was killed in an accident were missing.

Hawthorne's sister Diane Marceau says some of Hawthorne's friends brought flowers to the site on Sunday, so it wouldn't remain empty.

According to KRDO-TV, two other families have reported items stolen from memorial sites. They said police and the city have both told them that they don't touch memorials.
