Denver Moves Into 'Next Phase' In RNC 2016 Host City Decision

DENVER (CBS4) - The chairman of the Republican National Committee announced on Thursday that Denver is now one of eight cities being considered as a host city for the 2016 Republican National Convention.

Reince Priebus posted a tweet that said the cities that have "moved on to the next phase" in their process are:

- Cleveland
- Cincinnati
- Columbus
- Denver
- Dallas
- Kansas City
- Las Vegas
- Phoenix

On Monday Denver submitted a 700-page bid to host the convention.

Included as part of the city's effort was a YouTube video in which Hancock and Gov. John Hickenlooper said Colorado is "equally divided among Rs, Ds and Us, one third across the board."

Denver successfully hosted the Democratic National Convention in 2008. The economic impact from that convention totaled more than $250 million.
