Rifles Stolen From Larimer Sheriff Department SUV
FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) — Two rifles and other equipment have been stolen from an unmarked Larimer County Sheriff's Department SUV.
Authorities said Friday the SUV was one of several vehicles broken into on Feb. 1 in Fort Collins. The vehicle was assigned to a sheriff's patrol sergeant who's name hasn't been released.
Also taken were a portable radio, a camouflage vest with "Sheriff" on it and traffic spikes used to disable vehicles.
Police are in charge of the investigation since the theft occurred within the city limits. Sheriff's spokesman John Schulz says an internal investigation is also under way to determine if any departmental rules were broken.
Anyone with information about the thefts can call 970-221-6557 or 970-221-6868.
