Ribbon Cut On New Denver Detention Center
DENVER (CBS4) - Denver has a new jail. The city's mayor, Gov. Bill Ritter and other dignitaries cut the ribbon on the Van Cise-Simonet Detention Center Wednesday.
The center was built on the site of the old Denver Newspaper Agency site for $159 million.
The building will house 1,500 inmates, ease overcrowding at the Smith Road jail and add new courtrooms.
The detention center is names after former District Attorney Philip Van Cise and former Undersheriff John Simonet.
