Records Sealed In Case Of Greeley Officer Facing Charges

GREELEY, Colo. (AP) - The court records have been temporarily sealed in the case of a Greeley police officer accused of sexually assaulting a woman during a traffic stop.

The Greeley Tribune reports that Daniel Shepherd, 28, and his attorney, Daniel Recht of Denver, were in court Tuesday to ask that the case be continued to April 28 so the judge can consider permanently sealing the record. The attorney filed a motion regarding pre-trial publicity.

Shepherd is charged with sexual assault and unlawful sexual conduct. An arrest affidavit obtained by the Tribune before the records were sealed says a woman accused the officer of ordering her out of her car and touching her while he held her hands behind her back during a March 13 traffic stop.

Shepherd has been placed on leave.
