Real-Life Nanny Critiques 'Mary Poppins'
DENVER (CBS4)- Mary Poppins is a popular stage production that's being performed in Denver this week.
While CBS4 Critic at Large Greg Moody has already reviewed the show so now he's taking it to the real expert: a nanny.
Cynthia Wilkinson has been a nanny for 35 years. She's even been named Nanny of the Year by the International Nanny Association.
She has read the Mary Poppins books and seen the movie. Now she gives her critique of the performance in Denver and how close it resembles the real-life nanny business.
"It connects with the children, it goes in and really pins down what these needs are for these children and how to really help the family and then when she isn't needed anymore, she moves on," said Wilkinson.
Just like in Mary Poppins, when the wind shifts she moves on.
"I've been a nanny long enough that my very first charges now have children of their own. And I actually have a former charge who has called me on occasion to ask me about her children," said Wilkinson.
Wilkinson loved the show and what it said about the nanny profession, "You know nannies really love the children they care for and are a part of their lives for a certain time."
Read a written review of the show by Wilkinson.
Mary Poppins is playing at the Buell Theatre through Sunday.
