Pueblo Chemical Depot Isolates 3 Leaking Munitions
PUEBLO, Colo. (AP) — The U.S. Army Pueblo Chemical Depot says crews have cleaned up a mustard gas leak that was detected July 3.
The depot holds a stockpile of chemical weapons that are awaiting destruction.
Depot officials said Monday that monitoring crews were alerted last month to readings that indicated there were mustard agent vapors inside a storage structure that holds projectiles. An air filtration unit was immediately installed on the rear air vent of the structure.
Crews then identified three munitions that were leaking and transferred them to a structure designated for over-packed leaking munitions.
