Psychiatrist Says Boy Accused Of Murder Was Mentally Ill

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) - A doctor testified a teenage boy accused of murder is mentally ill.

The doctor testified Friday in the trial of Daniel Gudino. He was just 13 when he allegedly shot his 9-year-old brother Ulysses at their Colorado Springs home. Their mother was also shot.

A forensic psychiatrist says the suspect was suffering from psychotic mental illness leading up to the shooting and also showed signs of a sleep disorder.

Employees at Gudino's school also testified that he missed nearly 37 days of school in one year.
