Psychiatric Tests Ordered In Colorado Police Shooting Case

CANON CITY, Colo. (AP) — The Daily Record reports a judge has ordered a psychiatric evaluation of a man who was shot five times after stabbing a Canon City police officer.

District Judge David Thorson ordered the test during a hearing Wednesday for Hudson Taylor Clark. Results are expected by the next hearing, set for April 15.

Clark has been charged with attempted murder of a police officer, aggravated robbery, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, two counts of menacing, attempted theft, theft and resisting arrest in a Dec. 6 confrontation that came after his family contacted police to say they were worried about him and that he was mentally disturbed.

Police have said Clark made what they called "Islamic-type" statements, without elaborating, before the stabbing. The officer was not seriously injured.
