Potty Peeper Sentenced To 3 Years Behind Bars

BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4)- The man who initially pleaded not guilty to peeping on women while hiding in portable toilets has been sentenced after reaching a plea deal.

Luke Chrisco was arrested in 2011 after a woman at a yoga festival in Boulder noticed something moving in the tank of the portable toilet, then saw a feces-stained man emerge and run away. Police said he also was suspected of hiding in other bathrooms around Boulder to watch women use the toilet.

On Friday he was sentenced to three years in prison and 10 years probation with treatment after pleading guilty to two counts of burglary.

Since Chrisco has already been in jail for two years he will get credit for time served.

The prosecution asked that he be sentenced to eight years behind bars. Prosecutors said that Chrisco admitted spying on women in bathrooms in other states and countries more than 1,000 times.

They also said he is a danger to society.

"I think the concern is community safety and his risk to re-offend once he's out in the community and likely going to more bathrooms in more businesses and other types of offenses that he might commit," said prosecutor Catrina Weigel.

"I believe probation is the best place for him. They'll give him treatment, the sex offender treatment that he needs and will be monitoring him closely. He won't get any of that at the Department of Corrections. They'll just put him in the DOC and warehouse him and that's no place for him," said defense attorney Matt Connell.

Since his arrest, Chrisco had changed his plea or his attorney several times. He has had four attorneys and initially represented himself.

Last month he pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity and would have been housed at the mental health facility in Pueblo if he had been convicted.
