Possible Microburst Blows Roof Off Greeley Home
GREELEY, Colo. (CBS4) - People in part of Greeley thought they heard an explosion just before 2 p.m. on Tuesday, but firefighters believe a microburst tore the roof off a home.
The Greeley Fire Department sent CBS4 pictures of the house on 49th Avenue Court. They think a microburst of wind caught the eave of the home and peeled back the rest of the roof.
It was originally called into dispatch as a possible explosion.
No one was home at the time and nobody was hurt.
The city deemed the house unlivable. The owner was in a good mood considering the damage to his home. He joked with CBS4's Ty Brennan that he needed a new roof anyway.
