Police: Stolen SUV Collides With Semi On I-25

THORNTON, Colo. (CBS4) - A crash on Interstate 25 on Sunday afternoon shut down the interstate for several hours.

The crash involved a semi truck and a stolen SUV, according to police. It happened after 3:15 p.m. in the southbound lanes of I-25 near the Thornton Parkway.

Officials said a juvenile boy is in critical condition. He was one of five people in the stolen SUV. Two others were also taken to Denver Health Medical Center.

Police said the SUV was stolen out of Brighton.

Two of the five people in the SUV fled the crash on foot. One person was apprehended nearby, but the other remains at large.

The truck driver talked to CBS4 about the crash.

"I was driving down the road and these kids just came from nowhere and hit the side of my truck," the driver said. "I didn't know where they came from. I didn't see them until they hit me."

Witnesses said after the impact the SUV rolled at least a couple of times.

I-25 was reopened shortly after 5 p.m.
