Police Search For 7-Eleven Robbers, Link To Similar Crimes
LOVELAND, Colo. (CBS4)- Since Sunday armed thieves in Loveland have targeted three stores, two 7-Eleven locations and a Subway, holding up employees and stealing cash in two of the incidents. Loveland police are now investigating all three cases.
Just after 11 p.m. on Sunday, Loveland police received a call regarding a robbery at the 7-Eleven at 305 E. 37th Street. An employee there told police a man with a weapon entered the store and demanded money.
His face was covered and he ran away after stealing cash. The suspect was wearing a camouflage jacket. Police are not saying how much cash was stolen.
"To me it's nonsense, it's crazy people got nothing better to do," says 7-Eleven employee Sara Maes.
She was not present during the robbery but says her co-worker was and decided to quit after having a pocket knife pulled on him Sunday night.
"I gotta bust my butt, why can't they? There's no excuse," Maes said of the robber who got away.
Less than 24 hours later, at a Subway restaurant at 270 W. 64th Street on Monday night, police responded to an attempted armed robbery. According to Loveland police, employees saw a man with a weapon and his face covered walk into the store around 7:40 p.m.
While they retreated to the back of the store, employees called 911. The man took off without stealing anything. Police say the suspect is either a white or Hispanic man, about 6-foot with a skinny build. He was wearing all black clothing at the time.
Around 1:40 a.m. Tuesday, police say two men with bandannas covering their faces entered the 7-Eleven at 4277 N. Taft Street, demanding money. One of the two men brandished a handgun, employees told police. Police are also not saying how much cash was stolen in this robbery. They are looking for two white or Hispanic men, each about 5-foot-9 with medium builds. Police say one man was wearing all black clothing; the other was wearing a blue and white plaid jacket.
No one was hurt in any of the incidents. Police say they've obtained surveillance video from at least two of the stores hit and are working to make it available to the media. They are investigating whether the robberies and attempted robbery are connected, or could be connected to any other incidents around Northern Colorado.
