Police May Link Shooting To 3 Armed Robberies

DENVER (CBS4)- Police in Denver are investigating whether three robberies that happened Wednesday night are connected. One store clerk was shot. The suspects have not been arrested.

The locations where the robberies happened are in close proximity and happened within minutes of each other.

Two robberies occurred at Subway restaurants, one on East 20th near Park Street and the other at about 9:40- p.m. Wednesday on Colfax near Quebec.

The third incident happened at about 9:57 p.m. Wednesday at a convenience store near Bruce Randolph and York Street. That's where a store clerk was shot and was in stable condition Thursday afternoon.

Store manager Tayseer Muhammed received a call from police just after the shooting.

"We feel sad. I haven't slept since last night," said Muhammed. "It's sad. Very sad. Very sad situation and I hope he recovers just to return for his kids and his family and his wife."

Police said that none of the six surveillance cameras set up in the store were working when the robbery occurred.

"At this point we don't know. We're not sure what they were looking for and what items they were attempting to take," said Denver Police Department spokeswoman Raquel Lopez.

Neighbors and customers are shaken up over the shooting especially since the suspects remain on the loose.

"I hope they get caught. I hope they get caught because back then we didn't fight with guns, we fought with our fists," said convenience store customer Samuel Houston.
