Police Continue Investigation Into Tow Truck Driver Dragging Death

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Colorado Springs continue to gather evidence in the dragging death of a tow truck driver.

Allen Rose, 35, died after getting tangled in chains while preparing to tow a black Suburban that was illegally parked near the Hill Park Apartments on Wednesday.

Police said a woman jumped into the SUV and drove away, dragging Rose nearly two miles.

Police have interviewed that woman. They are also asking anyone who knows anything about the incident to call Colorado Springs police.

The manager of the Hill Park Apartments said the Suburban had been parked in the lot for 3-4 days without registration or any license plates. That's when the complex called to have it towed.

Thursday evening friends and family gathered for a vigil to honor Rose. They plan to follow the path that he was dragged, starting at the complex and ending nearly two miles away.

John Stellabotte own J&J Towing where Rose worked. He sent him on his last call to pick up the SUV.

"It sunk in about 45 minutes ago when we went down to see all the blood on the road and where he came to rest," said Stellabotte. "He was a really hard worker, a really sweet person."

People who live at the complex and witnessed the whole thing said they couldn't sleep with the image of Rose's last moments burned into their memory.
