Police Catch Possible 'Clown' Robbery Suspects In Utah
DENVER (CBS4) - Denver police are checking into whether two people who were arrested Thursday morning in Utah are responsible for a heist last week at a Denver jewelry store.
Police in Salina, Utah, pulled over a car being driven by Vincent Scott Mathews, Jr., at about 8:30 a.m. for a traffic violation. Mathews Jr., 21, of Aurora, was driving on Interstate 70 with a passenger named Ronnette Sheri Hatch, 22, also of Aurora.
Police searched the car and found a loaded gun under the driver's seat. Officers said they also located more than 100 diamond rings in the back of the vehicle.
Denver police are working with police in Utah but said there's no confirmation so far whether Mathews and Hatch are the two criminals who robbed Sonny's Rocks on Colorado Boulevard on Aug. 24. In that case, two people wearing wigs and makeup similar to clowns help up the store owner and employees and forced them to help them collect jewelry from their cases.

Officials with Salina police said the value of the jewelry that was found was about $400,000. Mathews and Hatch are now being held at the Sevier County Jail.
