Parking Enforcement Officers Are Good Guys In Boulder
BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) - The City of Boulder is encouraging people to shop local with some free parking promotions.
Parking enforcement officers are randomly handing out coupons for three hours of free on-street parking near the Pearl Street Mall and University Hill through Christmas Eve.
"Gave us free three hour parking because it's free shopping day, or because … you're a nice guy," said Kenny Lynch, who was visiting Boulder.
For Travis Simpson, a parking enforcement officer, it's a chance to be the good guy.
"A lot of people, they think of parking enforcement officers not in a positive way, and so this is something that allows us to … it allows people to see us in a positive light," Simpson said.
Time after time it worked.
"It's nice to know they're doing this promotion and helping people out," Boulder resident Kyle Vacca said. "I think it encourages people to come down here and spend more time shopping."
The city gave businesses other coupons for free one hour parking inside the garages to hand their customers.
"We appreciate the free hour of parking; it really does, I think, help incentivize people to come downtown and shop with us," a Boulder shop owner said.
"It's a good incentive and a it's nice touch for out-of-towners," said Debbie Lynch, who was visiting Boulder.
