Officer Involved Shooting Justified

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) -- The El Paso County district attorney has ruled that officers were justified when they shot and wounded Robert Cole after he allegedly pointed a gun at them.

Spokesman Lee Richards said officers can use deadly force when they need to defend themselves.

Cole remains hospitalized after he was hit twice during a confrontation last month.

Police said the officers were responding to the domestic disturbance and contacted Cole in a parking lot. Cole ran into an apartment building, allegedly pointing his weapon at five officers.

Police said three of the officers fired at Cole.
