Naked Man Causes A Ruckus On Western Slope

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (CBS4) - Police are releasing more details about a bizarre case on Monday in which a man who was wearing nothing but socks allegedly stole items from a liquor store and attacked an officer.

Grand Junction authorities say they were called to 12th Street and Pitkin Avenue in the early afternoon on a report that a naked man was walking in the middle of a busy street.

A court document obtained by CBS4 on Friday states that Leslie Lind walked away quickly when an officer approached him. Officials said he had just stolen a bottle of liquor and cigarettes from Last Chance Liquors.

While he was trying to leave the area an officer wrote in a report that he dropped some rolling papers and some tobacco. When officers caught up with him and handcuffed him they say they found Lind also had a smoking pipe and a bag with marijuana in it.

After that police say they took Lind to St. Mary's Hospital for a mental evaluation. In the hospital police say he "became angry, stood up, ripped the monitors off his body and began to charge" a police officer. The officer was able to mostly ward off the subsequent attack, according to the report.

Lind was booked into the Mesa County Jail a short time later.
