Music Teacher Arrested For Sexual Exploitation Of Children

DENVER (CBS4)- Denver Police arrested music teacher Tait Owen Anderson at his home in the 2800 block of Central Park Blvd. Thursday after suspected child pornography was discovered on his personal computer.

Police arrested Anderson, 31, for sexual exploitation of children, a class three felony.

Anderson is a music teacher at Florida Pitt Waller School, a K-8 school in Denver Public Schools.

DPS was notified of his arrest and released this statement: "We are deeply concerned about the charges against a Florida Pitt Waller School staff member. The Denver Public Schools' top priority is the safety of our students. The teacher has been placed on administrative leave, and both Florida Pitt Waller School and DPS will continue to work closely with the Denver Police Department during the investigation."

Police said they don't believe any of Anderson's students are victims, but haven't revealed what led them to search his computer.

"It does not appear at this point in time that there aren't any other children involved with this particular incident and we really are focusing on Mr. Anderson and those items that are on his computer," Det. John White said.

Kimberly Roberts' children attend the school and says she was blindsided by the news, but says her children weren't as stunned.

"I want to say I hope it's not true but, I don't know," parent Kimberly Roberts said. "I don't know what was going on in the classroom, how Mr. Anderson was towards the kids, but they didn't seem surprised, which was shocking."

Police also haven't released what particular items were found on Anderson's computer.
