Mullen Makes It 3 Straight 5A State Titles
DENVER (AP) - Adonis Ameen-Moore rushed for 186 yards and two touchdowns to lead Mullen to its third straight Class 5A state championship with a 37-6 victory over Regis Jesuit at Invesco Field.
Top-seeded Mullen (13-0), which has won 33 straight games and has played in six of the last seven state 5A championships, led 10-0 after the first quarter and had a 31-0 advantage at halftime.
Ameen-Moore had runs of 27 and 9 yards in the second quarter. Rayshon Williams also had a pair of first-half rushing touchdowns.
Mullen's defense held second-seeded Regis (13-1) to just one first down in the first half and a total of 8 in the game.
Regis, which lost for only the second time in its last 21 games, managed its only points on Andrew Faggelia's 10-yard TD run with 4:08 to play. The extra-point attempt failed.
