Mourners To Hold Candlelight Vigil For Kayla Chadwick In Fort Morgan
FORT MORGAN, Colo. (CBS4) - A community will gather Sunday night to remember a teenager who disappeared 16 months ago.
Remains found outside of Fort Morgan have been identified as Kayla Chadwick. At 8:30 p.m. people will gather at the town park on Main Street to share memories of Chadwick. There will be music, counseling if needed, and candles will be lit.
After nearly a year and a half of searching Chadwick's remains were found at the end of June in a remote area north of the city of Fort Morgan. Some of those who took part of the hunt for the missing girl returned to the scene to lay flowers and pay their respects.
The coroner said Chadwick's body was above ground with clothing present, but the body was so decomposed it may be impossible to determine the cause of death.
Chadwick's boyfriend Ivan Torralba and his mother Lucy have both been arrested on charges of lying to a grand jury connected to the case, but have not been charged directly in connection with Chadwick's disappearance or death.
Those who searched for Chadwick organized Sunday's vigil. Anybody is welcome to attend.
