Mother, Grandmother Charged After Toddler Left Alone In Pawn Shop

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Colorado Springs said a toddler's mother and grandmother left him alone in a pawn shop. Those two women are facing charges of child neglect.

Surveillance footage from the shop shows the little boy watching television with no parental supervision. Police said he was there alone for nearly three hours.

The cameras also show the mother and grandmother arriving at the store at about 2 p.m. Tuesday. The two women left without the boy.

About an hour later, police said they received a report from the boy's grandmother that the boy was missing.

"The grandmother was babysitting the child and could not find him. It is neglectful, so we'll be looking at that," said Colorado Springs Police Sgt. Steve Noblitt.

The pawn shop called police when they realized the toddler was alone. Officers brought his mother to pick him up. She and the grandmother were each issued a summons and released.
