Morgan County Man Arrested In Woman's Slaying
FORT MORGAN, Colo. (AP) — Authorities have arrested a man in connection with the death of a woman whose body was found near Fort Morgan.
Morgan County Sheriff Jim Crone says 37-year-old Robert Smith, of Log Lane Village, was arrested Tuesday in the death of 37-year-old Laurie Teter. He is facing several charges, including second-degree murder, child sexual assault and enticement.
Teter was reported missing Sept. 2, and her body was found about a week later. The sheriff's office says that in the course of the murder investigation, evidence came to light that Smith was involved in the sexual assault of a girl under the age of 15, as well as the enticement of a child through the Internet.
Smith is being held on $500,000 bail. A gag order has been issued, and no additional information was released.
