Microburst Knocks Down Trees, Power Also Out In East Denver
DENVER (CBS4) - Officials with the National Weather Service confirmed that a microburst was responsible for knocking down approximately 20 large trees in Denver on Thursday night.
The strong wind gusts knocked the trees down in East Central Denver sometime after 7 p.m. in a five block area. Several power poles also were knocked down.
A CBS4 crew found several large trees down at 17th and Monaco and 17th and Forest.
Official with Xcel Energy said there were about 700 customers without power in the area of Magnolia and between 14th and 17th. They said the couldn't confirm whether the outages were due to the weather situation.
