Marriage Talk Dominates Conservative Gathering In Denver
DENVER (AP) — The landmark Supreme Court gay marriage ruling is dominating discussion at a gathering of conservatives in Denver.
Seven Republican presidential hopefuls are addressing about 4,000 people at the Western Conservative Summit this weekend.
Rick Santorum and former New York Gov. George Pataki kick off the event Friday.
Also attending the conference are Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and former Texas Gov. Rick Perry. Rounding out the slate are businesswoman Carly Fiorina, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and neurosurgeon Ben Carson.
Santorum said Friday on Twitter that unelected justices usurped the will of the people. Attendees from the conference generally oppose same-sex marriage and are waiting to hear candidates lay out plans for responding to the ruling.
