Man Who Allegedly Confessed To Killing Wife On Trial
GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4)- The trial for a man who allegedly confessed to killing his wife after he was injured in a car crash has begun.
Arturo Navarrete-Portillo has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of Maria Carminda Portillo-Amaya in February 2015 in their Carbondale home. It was the town's first homicide in a decade.
Police say Navarrete-Portillo, 47, was in a crash after the stabbing and allegedly told a helicopter ambulance crew that he had killed his wife.
Jury selection began on Tuesday in Glenwood Springs. The trial is expected to last 10 days.
