Man Serving Life In Slaying Gets New, 48-Year Term
FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) -- A Colorado man already sentenced to life without parole for the murder a 19-year-old woman has been sentenced to an additional 48 years for a brutal attacking on another woman.
The Fort Collins Coloradan reports Travis Forbes was sentenced Friday after pleading guilty to attempted murder in the July attack in Fort Collins.
The victim says Forbes strangled her and stomped on her head, breaking her jaw and eye socket. She escaped by jumping from the second floor.
Family members say she suffered a stroke because of the attack and lost the ability to speak.
In September, Forbes pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the death of Kenia Monge of Denver. She disappeared after leaving a nightclub in March. Her remains were found in September.
