Man Pleads Guilty In Murder-For-Hire Case
DENVER (AP/CBS4) -- A Chicago developer accused of flying to Denver to arrange the murder of a business associate has pleaded guilty to one charge in exchange for others being dropped.
Brooks Kellogg appeared Thursday in federal court in Denver where he pleaded guilty to interstate travel with intent that murder be committed. Prosecutors have agreed to drop four other charges and recommend a maximum of six years in prison when he's sentenced June 30.
The FBI arrested Kellogg, 72, in October after authorities say he gave $2,000 to an undercover agent to arrange the murder of Stephen Bunyard of Destin, Fla., who settled a lawsuit with Kellogg and his company for $2.5 million.
The agent said Kellogg showed him a picture of Bunyard.
FBI AGENT: "You want him killed?"
KELLOGG: "Yes."
FBI AGENT: "Do you have any other jobs for me and
KELLOGG: "Yeah, I've got some other things in mind".
