3 Women Robbed In Broad Daylight Along Boulder Creek
BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) - Boulder police are looking for a suspect after three women were robbed at gunpoint in the middle of the day along Boulder Creek.
The incident happened around 4 p.m. Monday near 6th and Canyon close to the Boulder County Justice Center.
The women were sitting on some rocks along the busy Boulder Creek Path when a man walked up to them, pointed a gun at them and told them to get into the creek. He took their purses and then escaped on a bicycle.
"He did not fire at the girls, none of the women were harmed, but we did find a slug in that area," Boulder police spokeswoman Kim Kobel said.
While the robbery was random, it appears not to be isolated.
"On Thursday evening, Aug. 11, about 8:30 p.m. a female was walking down the Boulder Creek Path north of the CU Rec Center. She was approached by our suspect, who presented a handgun and demanded her purse," Robert Axmacher with the University of Colorado Police Department said.
Police say the victims got a good look at the man because he wasn't wearing a mask. He's described as 5-foot-8 and 160 pounds. He's Hispanic and was wearing a blue Polo shirt, jeans and riding a silver bike. Police expect to draft a sketch of the suspect soon.
