Man Convicted In Killing Outside Rap Concert

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - A man convicted of killing a man in a parking lot after a 2009 concert by rapper E-40 in Colorado Springs has been sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Terry Lamaire Gaines, 24, was sentenced Friday after jurors convicted him of first-degree murder in the shooting death of 27-year-old Michael Allen Davis.

A judge added four years to Gaines' sentence for a conviction on a charge of vehicular eluding for leading police on a chase, two years for possession of a gun by a previous offender and four years for a 2007 marijuana possession conviction.

The Gazette reports Gaines had testified during trial that he shot Davis in self-defense, thinking that he saw Davis reaching for a gun.
