Man Charged In Deadly Super 8 Parking Lot Shooting

BRIGHTON, Colo. (CBS4)- A homicide suspect has been formally charged for allegedly shooting a man to death in the parking lot of the Super 8 motel at 58th and Broadway.

The suspect, Jose Ocampo, 37, was taken into custody at a Motel 6 in Lakewood on May 5 after SWAT teams deployed a flash-bang and the man came outside.

Ocampo has been charged with first-degree murder after deliberation, first-degree murder extreme indifference and attempted first-degree murder for the death of Michael House, 29. He also has been charged wtih committing a crime of violence and as a habitual offender.

The standoff at the Motel 6 started the night before he was arrested.
