Man Accused Of Killing Wife Charged

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) - Prosecutors have charged a 38-year-old man accused of stabbing his wife to death and his bond was set at $250,000.

Authorities say in an arrest affidavit that Nathan Yager admitted to his mother that he had stabbed his wife. The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel reported Saturday that prosecutors charged Yager with second-degree murder. He was arrested Jan. 7, the same day his wife's body was found along railroad tracks in Paonia.

The affidavit says 34-year-old Melinda Yager was under a restraining order that forbade her from contacting her husband. Authorities say the couple was in the process of getting divorced and seeking custody of their infant daughter.

It was not immediately known when Yager's next court appearance would be.
