Major Road Closures, Including I-70 On Eastern Plains Due To Whiteout Conditions
DENVER (CBS4) - The snowstorm moving through Colorado is forcing the Colorado Department of Transportation to close highways Monday night.
The following are some of the major closures Monday night:
- Interstate 70 is closed both directions from Airpark to the Kansas border because of whiteout conditions.
- Closed CO 71 Brush to CO 14 both directions (MM 178 to 201) because of blowing & drifting snow, whiteout conditions.
- Closed CO 71 Limon to CO14 both directions (MM 102 to 201) because of blowing & drifting snow, whiteout conditions.
- CO-71 Closed Limon to Ordway because of blowing snow & icy road conditions.
- Closed US 24 both directions COSprings to Limon (MM 311 to 376) b/c blowing & drifting snow,whiteout conditions; EB US 24 Open to Limon.
- Closed US 40/US 287 both directions Limon to KS (MM 387 to 486) b/c blowing & drifting snow,whiteout conditions
- Closed CO 86 Kiowa to I-70 both directions (MM 23 to 59) due to blowing and drifting snow, whiteout conditions.
- Closed US 385 Burlington to Cheyenne Wells both directions (MM 151 to 187) due to blowing and drifting snow, whiteout conditions.
- upd US-385 Closed both directions Julesburg to Cheyenne Wells, no estimate for reopening.
- Closed CO 59 Kit Carson to Cope both directions (MM 1 to 66) due to blowing and drifting snow, whiteout conditions.
- Closed US 36 Byers to Kansas both directions (MM 100 to 224) due to blowing and drifting snow, whiteout conditions.
- US 287 closed from Teds Place to Wyoming state border because of whiteout conditions.
- Closed I-76 Lochbuie to I-80 (Nebraska) both directions (MM 24 to 183) because of blowing & drifting snow, whiteout conditions.
- Closed CO 94 COSprings to US 40 both directions (MM 2 to 86) because of blowing & drifting snow, whiteout conditions.
- Closed US 24 WB Limon to COSprings (MM 376 to 311) because of blowing & drifting snow, whiteout conditions.
