These Suspects Are Wanted For Stealing Luggage At DIA
DENVER (CBS4)- Police in Denver are searching for three people wanted in luggage thefts at Denver International Airport. The thieves struck just before Christmas during the busy holiday travel season last month.
On Dec. 22, 2019, a male and female took several pieces of luggage that wasn't theirs from DIA.
"Denver police is patrolling in the terminal and around baggage claim. We also have contracted security service that is monitoring these areas and our DEN employees who are out making sure that people aren't walking off with bags that don't belong to them," said DIA spokesperson Emily Williams.
On Dec. 23, 2019, a female suspect took one piece of luggage that didn't belong to her.
Williams said protecting passenger property is an important task for airport security. Going so far as requiring checks to make sure the luggage passengers take from the carousel matches the baggage claim ticket? Williams said that's up to the airlines and those at DIA have opted out.
"If an airline were interested in that kind of enforcement or that kind of double-check, the airport would certainly support that," she said.
All of the suspects are wanted for felony theft. Investigators do not believe the cases are connected.
Police could not give an estimated value of the items taken.
