Loveland Begins Mulching Tree Limbs After Oct. Snowstorm

LOVELAND, Colo. (CBS4)- The City of Loveland is preparing to shred all of the tree limbs collected during last month's snowstorm.

Grinding operations will begin at Centennial Park on Thursday. That park is no longer accepting tree branches.

The City Recreation Trail section through Centennial Park will be closed during grinding, which is expected to take 2-3 days. A temporary detour will divert trail users around the Centennial Park area using the sidewalks along 1st Street and Taft Avenue.

The Loveland Recycling Center located at 400 N. Wilson will continue to accept tree branches and limbs. The center is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday. There is no charge to city residents with a current, 2011 yard debris permit. Non-city residents are also welcome to dispose of branches for a nominal fee.

Residents who require assistance can call a commercial tree-trimming company or a landscape maintenance company for help in branch trimming and cleanup. Volunteer assistance is available to frail seniors and disabled residents by calling 970-962-2529.

Small limbs and branches may be placed in residents' yard debris carts. Yard cart collection continues through November 30th.
