Lone Tree Police Investigate $20,000 Construction Site Theft

LONE TREE, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Lone Tree are investigating a construction site theft where the materials stolen were valued at $20,000.

Officers rushed to the area of Lincoln Avenue and Interstate 25 about 9:20 a.m on Saturday on a report of a theft of construction materials in progress.

While en route to the area officers learned that an eyewitness to the theft was following two suspect vehicles southbound on I-25.

The eyewitness was reporting metal debris was falling out of the bed of one of the suspect vehicles and onto the interstate, causing a traffic hazard.

The eyewitness continued to follow one suspect vehicle and gave Lone Tree Police dispatch updated locations of the vehicle.

The suspect vehicle traveled through Castle Rock and into Littleton. Douglas County Sheriff's deputies stopped the vehicle on Santa Fe Drive, just north of C470.

A 45-year-old male was arrested for felony theft charges and the vehicle was impounded and the stolen construction materials were recovered.
