Lockdown At Fort Carson Lifted After Shots Fired

FORT CARSON, Colo. (CBS4) – A lockdown at Fort Carson that was implemented Monday night after shots were fired was lifted a few hours later.

There were reports of shots fired, but nobody was hurt.

Fort Carson was placed under lockdown as military police searched for the person who fired the shots.

Base leaders are saying very little, only that there was "a situation on the base" and it wasn't not an active shooter.

"The reports stated that two shots were heard near the northwest perimeter of the installation at approximately 7:50 p.m. Monday. This was not an active shooter event and there are no reported injuries," base spokesperson Dani Johnson said in a statement. "No suspects are in custody at this time. We ask that personnel on the installation remain vigilant and report any suspicious behavior, but authorities see no immediate danger to anyone at this time."

Traffic was backed up at the gates with Monday night with nobody being allowed into the base.
