Limon Police Officer Shot And Killed
LIMON, Colo. (CBS4)- A police officer in Limon was shot at about 6:15 p.m. Wednesday. The shooting suspect has barricaded himself inside a mobile home.
The officer did not survive. Officers at the scene are releasing very little information to the public.
"I can tell you that our officers were called out for mutual aid around 6:15 this evening. Elbert County deputies were in route, they also called once they got on scene requesting the Douglas County respond as well. The are on scene right now, they do have a situation. We can't confirm anything at this time," said one Elbert County deputy.
The suspect has barricaded himself at the Wagon Wheel Mobile Home Park located in the west side of Limon. That mobile home park has been evacuated. Police officers, SWAT teams, sheriff's deputies and FBI agents have surrounded the mobile home park.
Copter4 flew over the scene Wednesday night. The crew saw four ambulances pull into the mobile home park.
The identity of the officer has not been released.
Limon is about 90 miles southeast of Denver.
