Police in Fort Collins responded to a report of harassment involving Bush just before midnight Tuesday. He was allegedly involved in a verbal altercation at his ex-wife's home earlier in the evening when he dropped off their children.

After leaving, police said he sent a series of harassing text messages to her over the next few hours.

Police contacted Bush after he arrived at his home around 3:35 a.m. He was taken into custody at 3:40 a.m. Officers found a loaded Glock handgun as well as a large kitchen steak knife in the front seat of his car.

No one was injured. All the charges Bush faces are misdemeanors.

Bush, from Fort Collins, has been placed on administrative leave. An investigation has been opened by the Larimer County Sheriff's Office.
