Lakewood Family Escapes Early Morning House Fire

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4)- A Lakewood family escaped a burning home early this morning.

Firefighters rushed to the home at 11382 West Hampden Avenue at about 4 a.m.

The floor as well as part of the roof of the home collapsed. Everyone inside, seven people, made it out safely with no major injuries.

"She said, 'Uh-oh, oh my gosh! There's a fire!' She shook me awake and got everybody out," said homeowner Caleb Eads.

One person was taken to the hospital with minor smoke inhalation because it irritated her asthma.

The homeowner believes a faulty electrical connection may be to blame. The investigation into what caused the fire is still ongoing.

The home is a total loss.
