Knowshon Moreno Named AFC Offensive Player of the Week
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4) - The National Football League announced on Wednesday that Denver Broncos running back Knowshon Moreno was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week.
Moreno rushed for 118 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries in the Broncos' 34-17 win over the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.
"His 118 yards were the most by a visiting player against Baltimore since the 2010 season, and his effort represented just the 17th all-time individual 100-yard rushing game by a Ravens visiting opponent," the Broncos said in a prepared statement.
It was Moreno's fourth 100-yard rushing game of his career. He also ran for over 100 yards in the previous game against the Oakland Raiders.
"Moreno currently ranks fourth in the NFL in scrimmage yards per game (121.8) and fifth in the league in rushing yards per game (97.8) during the last four weeks as Denver's starting running back," the Broncos said.
It's the first time Moreno has been honored as the AFC Offensive Player of the Week.
"Overall, Moreno's honor is the 47th such award for an offensive player in team history since it was initiated by the NFL in 1984."
Denver has had seven individual Conference Player of the Week awards this season, which leads the NFL.
