Jeffeson Co. Man Arrested In Connection With Father's Death
JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- A Jefferson County man has been arrested in connection with the death of his 90-year-old father.
Kenneth J. Elmgreen was arrested Monday for first degree murder in the death of his father, Kenneth "Bud" Elmgreen.
Jefferson County Sheriff's Deputies responded July 27 to an address in the 3800 block of Ridge Road to attempt to locate the younger Elmgreen, 53, who had an active warrant for his arrest.
While deputies were checking the exterior of the home they looked through a window and saw drops of blood on the floor inside. That's when Elmgreen came outside with multiple lacerations to his arms and legs.
Elmgreen told deputies that the injuries were self-inflicted and that his father was dead inside the home.
Deputies checked inside the home and located the body of the elder Elmgreen, 90, in a bedroom.
Elmgreen was taken to the hospital for treatment to his wounds and arrested a few days later for first degree murder.
Elmgreen is being held without bond. The cause of death for the elder Elmgreen has not been released because the investigation is still ongoing.
