House Fire Kills Woman And 4 Cats In Denver
DENVER (CBS4) - A woman has died following a fire that broke out about 5:30 a.m. Wednesday near South Garfield Street and Mississippi Avenue.
Denver fire officials said crews arrived and found the victim but could not resuscitate her. They also said four cats died in the fire.
"It didn't look good, and the response from the fire people didn't indicated it was anything but a tragedy," said neighbor George Mayl.
The identity of the woman has not yet been released by officials. According to neighbors, she had lived in the home for many years, but recently leave the house much, which worried some people.
"She kind of kept to herself for the most part, but we would have poker nights or wine tastings and stuff," said Mayl.
At noon on Wednesday no cause of the fire had been announced by investigators.
Neighbors tell CBS4 that one of the woman's five cats has not been located. Anyone in the area is asked to keep an eye out for a tan, short-legged cat named Titan.
