Hospital Companies Bid For Memorial Health Lease
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - Six parties have submitted proposals to lease the Memorial Health System owned by the city of Colorado Springs.
A city task force plans to review the proposals before they are publicly released next month. Voters ultimately would need to approve any lease plan.
The Gazette reports HCA-HealthOne said Monday it's, offering a $500 million upfront payment for a 40-year lease, plus other commitments. It says it will guarantee Memorial's 4,000 employees' jobs for at least six months, but some billing and procurement functions will likely be centralized.
The Denver Post reports Centura, Penrose-St. Francis, Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth Health System, Banner, University of Colorado Hospital, and Memorial's own management also were interested. They haven't released their proposals publicly.
